How it works

Three steps between you and a working phone abroad.

  1. Pick your destination

Search 190+ countries and regional bundles. See honest data amounts and real prices before you commit.

  2. Install in 2 minutes

Scan a QR code or tap one link. No SIM tray, no store queue, no waiting for a courier.

  3. Land connected

Your eSIM activates the moment you touch down (or earlier, your call). Maps, messages, boarding passes — all there.

Why not just roam?

Roaming vs. an Onda South Korea eSIM

Skip the roaming bill

Seoul has become a genuine Australian favourite — the food, the shopping, and some of the fastest mobile networks on the planet. Ironically, that's what makes roaming there feel worse: you're paying your telco around A$5–10 a day to reach networks a travel eSIM accesses for a one-off price. Ten days on a day pass can cost more than the eSIM and a very good Korean barbecue dinner combined.

Flights run about ten hours direct from the east coast, so do the two-minute install at home beforehand and activate when you land at Incheon. Korea runs on apps — Naver Map, Papago, subway cards — and all of them want data immediately.

Cherry blossoms in spring, ski fields near Pyeongchang in winter, or a week of restaurants any time: land connected and keep up with the pace of the place.

Common questions

South Korea eSIM FAQ

Will my phone work with an eSIM in South Korea?
Most phones from the last few years support eSIM — iPhone XS/XR and newer, Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer, Google Pixel 4 and newer, and most recent flagships. Check your phone's settings for "Add eSIM" or use our [compatibility checker](/help) before you buy. Install is just scanning a QR code; your physical SIM stays in your phone.
How fast is the data in South Korea?
You get full local network speeds on established partner networks across South Korea, with no artificial throttling from us. Speeds reflect the local network you're connected to, so they're typically excellent in cities and major towns.
Can I make calls or send texts with this eSIM?
Onda eSIMs are data-only, which is how we keep prices low. For calls and texts, use WiFi calling or apps like WhatsApp, FaceTime Audio, iMessage and Telegram — the same way most travellers already keep in touch.
What happens if I run out of data?
Top up in a couple of taps from your Onda account — no new QR code, no new eSIM, no finding a shop. If you're not sure how much you'll use, our [data sizing guide](/guides/data-how-much-do-i-need) breaks down maps, social and video in real numbers.
Does it work in Seoul, Busan and on the KTX?
Coverage is typically excellent in Seoul, Busan and other major cities, and generally good on the KTX between them. Tunnels and very rural mountain areas can have brief drop-outs, which is normal for any Korean network.
Can I use KakaoTalk and Naver Maps?
Yes — KakaoTalk, Naver Maps, Kakao T and all your usual apps work over the data connection. The eSIM is data-only, so use KakaoTalk voice or WhatsApp for calls.
